I love freekah! It has such a great taste, plus it’s always fun trying something new isn’t it. I’ve only ever cooked salads with it before though, so I’ll have to have a little look at some of the other recipes you’ve posted and start experimenting a little more. Thanks for the great round up 🙂
Hey, Dearna! You’re so right that freekeh is just delicious, and it seems like a lot of people are just like you in that they’ve mostly only used it as an ingredient in salads. It’s so flexible, though – and we’re really happy we inspired you to try other ways of preparing it! So many great options, right?!?! 😀 ~G&S
Thanks for all the recipes using freekeh…I yet have to try this new grain.
Enjoy the rest of your week 😀
Oh, Juliana – you’re gonna love freekeh! It has such a lovely, nutty flavor and a really great, slightly chewy texture. Plus it’s so incredibly nutritious – absolutely loaded with protein and fiber! It’s really easy to make, too – the hardest part will be deciding which recipe to try first! 😀 ~G&S
As usual you girls have come up with a great list and I am so happy to be on it! Freekehlicious is a great name and if I hadn’t already tried it, I would be on it because it sounds so fun. You know I love anything that tastes good and freekeh is where it’s at! Thanks again and have a successful giveaway!
Haha – so true – freekeh is such an excellent name to start with, and then Freekehlicious is just even better! Who wouldn’t want to try something named that, right!?!? And it really is delicious (not to mention incredibly healthy!!) – once people try it they really get hooked! Shelley’s mom tried freekeh for the first time after we posted our recipe for Kale Chopped Salad with Berries and Freekeh and she just keeps raving about it! So nutty and chewy and just really satisfying in lots of dishes! We’re thrilled to be able to include your fantastic recipe in this Top 10 list to inspire our readers – absolutely love that combination of flavors, Abbe! 😀 ~G&S
I remember those pumpkin and chocolate freekah scones over at Runnin Srilankan – don’t they sound amazing? You know, I think I actually had some freekah for the first time today. It was mixed in with some couscous in a dish I had in a cafe. Pretty tasty, I have to say! Great round-up, girls!
Mmmmm … I could eat pumpkin scones all day! Honestly, pumpkin anything! 🙂
Glad you liked the freekeh! It’s very tasty – we’ve been loving it! You’ll just need to recreate that meal you had today and share with the rest of us!
Have a great day! 🙂 ~Gretchen
Hi Shellly,
All these recipes look so tempting but I especially like those stuffed tomatoes that Gary made. They look really yummy. I know these days there is an anti current toward grains, but I’m still flowing with the grains and I’ve got to try this one.
Oh, we totally love grains here at THK – there are so many different textures to choose from, and such a range of nutrient profiles for people who are looking for loads of protein or are eating gluten-free or are just looking to pump up their fiber intake. That’s the great thing about having so many different types of grains in your cooking arsenal, right? Whatever recipe you’re creating or whatever your nutrition goals, you can build in great nutrition if you just know which grain to choose! So excited for you to try freekeh – let us know what you think! 😀 ~Shelley
