My husband and I love salmon. And we tried to tell our kids how yummy it was. “No Thank You,” they said (notice those capital letters … we could definitely tell they meant it!).

We told them how nutritious it was. (The omega-3s! The protein! The vitamins!) They still turned their noses up at it. Humph … well, more for us, we thought.

They claimed they didn’t like salmon.

That is, until they tried really good salmon. (And then, along came today’s recipe … a game-changer that just might surprise even your pickiest “I-don’t-like-fish” kiddos into becoming instant salmon lovers!)

My littlest was the first to convert – and it just took one bite. Soon she was asking for a little bite here and a little bite there. I was more than happy to share … ahem, until she was eating my whole dinner! But can I really blame her? It’s soooo good!

This gorgeous, super-easy sauce is the key to big salmon flavor!

My husband and I sent each other mental high-fives across the table.

We now eat salmon on a really-regular basis … a meal the whole family enjoys that’s a success every time!! Yumm-yumm-yummo! We all love it!

No matter how many other ways I’ve made salmon, this recipe is now the recipe. Sure, I’ve experimented with some deliciously complex flavors – super tasty. And I’ve tried clean, pure flavors – equally fantastic.

But this is the one – the recipe my family begs for. The recipe that revolutionized salmon recipes. (Well, at my house, at least.)

My oldest even asked for this very recipe to be served at her birthday dinner. If that doesn’t scream “I-LOVE-THIS-FOOD” I don’t know what does! Birthday dinners are a big deal to kids.

This crazy-easy salmon recipe is a little bit sweet from the honey … a tad bit tart from the apple cider vinegar … and all totally awesome.

People. I need you to hear me out.

Sometimes really (really) simple recipes are the best. Like really the best.

We honest-to-goodness haven’t fixed salmon any other way since. Yep. We love it that much!

In fact, I was fixing the recipe for dinner one evening, when my youngest had a friend over for dinner. I crossed my fingers and hoped her sweet friend would like it. (You know, since I’d had my own experiences with kids and salmon and all … )

Her friend loved it! Her mom even texted me after she got home, asking for the recipe for “the salmon with the yummy green sauce”! Whew!

Now, you may need to run to the store to get some salmon, but I can pretty much guarantee that you’ve already got all of the other ingredients you need to make this. Don’t you just love those recipes where you’ve got everything on hand? I know I do!

So since it’s the New Year, and the most popular resolutions people make include losing weight (or eating healthy) and getting organized … Shelley and I knew it was the right time to share this phenomenal salmon recipe (aka “The Game Changer”)!

I just know that you’ll love it! And I can vouch from firsthand experience that the kids … well, they’ll love it, too!

It’s simple, it’s healthy, it’s the very best way to start your New Year off on the right foot!

Happy New Year, friends!

Easy Honey-Glazed Salmon

Yield: 4 servings
Prep Time: 7 minutes
Cook Time: 17 minutes
Total Time: 24 minutes

This incredibly easy salmon recipe is sure to become a new favorite! With ingredients you already have on hand, dinner will be ready in no time!

Ready in 30 Minutes or Less    Gluten Free

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless salmon, skin removed if desired (see note)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Line a glass baking dish with foil or parchment paper (see note).
  3. Place salmon in baking dish.
  4. Combine honey, vinegar, canola oil, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper in a small bowl and mix until salt is dissolved and ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  5. Pour honey mixture over salmon, making sure salmon is coated completely by glaze (although much of the glaze will run down into the pan).
  6. Bake for 17-22 minutes, checking for doneness (the thickest part of the salmon will flake easily with a fork). Do not overcook; salmon should be flaky and moist. Serve immediately.

Notes

Salmon: This recipe will also work with salmon that still has the skin on. Place the salmon in the pan skin-side down before pouring the glaze over top. Once baked, the salmon should be easy to lift away from the skin, leaving the skin behind in the baking pan.

Pan: Lining the pan with foil or parchment is purely for ease of cleanup. This recipe also works just fine in an unlined pan that's been prepped with a bit of non-stick spray.

      • I made this for dinner tonight and it was a huge hit! My daughter declared salmon her “favorite food,” which is quite the compliment coming from her. 🙂 I loved the quick and easy prep and clean up. This one’s going into our regular recipe rotation!

      • Oh! Please tell your sweet girl she made my day!! That’s so great! I’m thrilled she (and everyone else!) loved it!

As much as I love the yummy flavors, I’m over-the-moon happy with how fast and simple it is! Quick, healthy, and delicious foods are my fave! 😀

  2. Looks lovely! My kids are not salmon fans, although they will eat tuna and tilapia. Still, I think I’ll try it and see! I usually avoid making fish in the kitchen because it smells up the house (so it’s mostly a summer dish, where we grill it outside). What do you ladies do about that issue, or am I the only one who has that problem? 😉

    • Hello! Happy New Year to you, as well!

Yes … please do try this! We really love it – and it’s such an easy recipe! Perfect for busy evenings! 😀

I actually made this salmon last night, and purposely smelled around to see if I could notice anything – just so I could answer your question! Yes, I could slightly smell it while it was cooking, but no more than if I was making a roasted chicken or turkey (trust me … it smells really yummy when it’s baking!). This morning when I went downstairs, I couldn’t smell anything. I think because it bakes in the oven, it doesn’t produce quite the odor of if were prepared in a skillet, with the steam going up into the air.

      Hope that helps! ~Gretchen

      • You’re right, it doesn’t stink up the kitchen! I’ve made this several times now, and the kids scarf it down (their form of compliment, along with mumbling, “good dinner, Mom” around a forkful of food), and hubby loves it! I’ve been doubling the recipe because they like it so much that they eat generous helpings, and hubby gets a lunch portion for work the next day. A follow-up question: would tin foil be okay to substitute for parchment, or would it affect the cooking time or taste of the salmon? I get the kind of salmon with the skin on and cook it skin-side down, then remove it before serving, if that info makes a difference. Thanks bunches! 😀

  3. Happy New Year, Ladies!
I have been trying for years to get my family to love salmon. I’d be happy if they just ate salmon without complaints or upturned noses. I give them the reasons it is good to eat and that doesn’t make a difference. I’m definitely going to try your recipe. 😀 Pinning

    • Oh girl … I’m with ya! My kids constantly told us how much they detested salmon! And now … it’s being requested for the family birthday dinner! It’s crazy – and we still laugh about it! We just made this salmon last night for dinner, and everyone had clean plates! I hope your kiddos love it, too! 🙂 ~Gretchen
