- olive oil - shallots  - kosher salt - ground black pepper - asparagus - whole-wheat pasta - water - frozen peas - lemon juice - parmesan cheese - unsalted butter

Step 1 :  Heat the oil over medium heat in a large, straight-sided sauté pan or large pot.

Step 2 :  Add the shallots, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. 

Step 3 : Add the asparagus, pasta, water, and peas. Cover and bring to a boil.
